There are a few smells that always remind me of Christmas, and I’m sure it’s the same for you. (Clementines anyone?)
For Melanie, the smell of spices and mulled apple juice (port or cider if children are not involved) really sums up Christmas. It’s a cosy time she’s always looking forward to, nearly as much, if not more, as the children (and it shows in the images.)
Every year, they build an Advent calendar and each day has a Christmas related activity to do – such as getting Christmas books from the library, visiting Santa, watching a Christmas movie…
Cleo was in charge of writing the little papers this year and was shocked to discover how Christmas was actually spelt (not Chrissmas). Lois’ involvement in the decorations making consisted of putting stickers everywhere with her grandmother while Devon enjoyed his mammy’s attention.
Life with children is busy and while unplugged quality family time sounds great, it is not always realistic. When it does happen, it worth capturing.
