Ok… so… This newborn/family session was my first “Fresh 48” session and I am hooked! Being in the room when Maia and Orran met their baby sister for the first time was very strong. I felt the tears creeping up just like I do when the bride comes down the aisle at a wedding. And yes, you can call me a softy!
If you are currently pregnant and interested in capturing those raw moments following the birth of your baby (may it be your first, second, third or more), get in touch with me! They will take place at home, whether it is after a home birth or in the day or two after coming home and you won’t need to worry about words like “mess”, “baby bump” and “tired looking”. It will be all of those things but so much more!
Aoife told me two weeks later how she had started forgetting about those first few days already. They just go into a blur (like the birth!) too quickly (although when it comes to the birth itself, it’s sometimes for the best! ahah).
Looking at his daughter and son being so excited to hold Tove, touch her fingers, cheeks and contemplate her meant a lot to Conor (He even cried a bit, but shhhh…).
The first few days after a new baby join the family are so raw! It’s not all “perfect” but honest moments are what we want. Siblings won’t always fight to hold the baby, daddy is likely to go back to work soon, the hormones will erase a lot from your memory and however exhausted you feel, months later you’ll wish you could go back to those crazy manic first days (for a minute).
