Two weeks ago exactly, I was at my first Wear A Hug Fair 2017 as a photographer. I really enjoyed it! Facebook and other social media platforms are great, but there is nothing like having a person coming to you and saying “I’ve seen your work online and I love that you’re capturing such natural portraits of families.”

Beside chatting to visitors, I also documented the day in itself and tried to capture as many babywearing parents as possible. Who can resist all those cute faces cuddled up against mothers and fathers alike. Newborns, babies, toddlers, looking around or napping peacefully, front carry or back carry, in a ring sling, mei dai, stretchy wrap, woven wrap or buckle carrier. (There are also different types of carry for each of those, but I am out of my depth and if you are interested, check out the Babywearing Ireland website.)

Diane O’Connor, a stand-up comedian and performer from Dublin entertained visitors with her stand-up comedy “Breastfeeding Al Fresco and Other Adventures”. I only caught the end of it but the feedback was unanimous: it is very funny!

Here are some of my favourite images of the day. The whole gallery is on my Facebook page. If you were there and see a photograph you like, let me know, I can order a print for you.

Babywearing Ireland‘s annual Wear a Hug Fair took place on Sunday 1st October 2017, at the Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth, Co. Kildare and is Ireland’s largest gathering of baby wearers.
