“My husband and I have two daughters and they are besotted with my Mum and Dad. The highlight of the week for the girls and my parents is when we go over for dinner on a Sunday to their house. My Mum and Dad get such enjoyment from being around the girls. Every day Felicity phones either Granny or Grandad to tell them about her day.
Sadly we are not photographers, so we never quite capture the true beauty of the fleeting moments we see the children enjoying with their grandparents. To have the chance to capture the pure love, wonderment, and bond between grandchildren and grandparents would be beyond special. I don’t have any photos of myself with my grandparents while I was young, but I remember some of the joy we shared. I’d love to be able to see that joy framed for my girls.”
When Rebecca first emailed me about doing a photo session with her two girls and her parents, I immediately pictured the final photographs and couldn’t have been more excited. Her words resonated with me and her reaction today when I delivered the storyboard and prints just confirmed we were a really a good match for each other.
When I asked Rebecca if they were specific moments she wished to capture, she said:
“Felicity loves helping my Dad to prepare dinner. She also loves sitting for my Mum while they make jewellery together or my Mum does her hair for her (my Mum was a hairdresser). To capture Juliette throwing herself backwards in my Mum’s arms and the look of fun and relief they both have. I wish to capture the sparkle of pure joy that they ignite in one another’s eyes.”
